This month I have mostly been sketching the loudest backyard bird. Half way through I decided to put a pair on a page, and where possible, a male and a female. With birds, the looks are very different based on sexes and putting them together helps me learn. I have been relying on Cornell for the reference images.

The female of the pair ran into the freshly cleaned window on Jun 23 and was concussed for a couple of hours.A pair of Anna’s hummingbirds, Jun 18. It seems that the feeder is attracting the young adults now.Adult California Scrub-Jay, Jun 26. We saw one while sipping a macchiato at the Saint Frank Coffee shop in Menlo Park.
